Rakovnik is a small settlement in the Šentjernej municipality in southeastern Slovenia. It lies at the foothills of the Gorjanci range. The entire municipality was traditionally part of Lower Carniola. It is now included in the Jugovzhodna Slovenija statistical region.[2]

There is a small church in the forest to the south of the settlement. It is dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes with the statue of Mary placed in a niche carved into the rockface and the building erected in front of it. It dates to the early 20th century.[3]
